A True Friend Cares

Updated: Jun 12, 2022

As I think of the word care, the first person that comes to mind, aside from Mom, is my friend Julie. She's proven herself a faithful friend and sister in Christ more times than I can count.

February of last year (2020) my husband had a stroke. This hit my children and me like a ton of bricks. Once again, Julie stepped in making sure my 19 year-old son had food while I was at the hospital with my husband.

A few weeks after my husband's release from the hospital, our state shut down due to Covid-19. During this time I had to take him to the ER. I wasn't allowed stay with him. I have never been so upset in all my life. I called Julie to pray. She did just that, but she also came and sat with me in the parking lot of the hospital. During this time a tornado warning was issued, however in spite of this, Julie stayed with me until hubby was released from the ER. A true friend indeed!

Recently, I had Covid, was sick for a eight days and then ended up in the hospital for almost a week. Julie again was there to help. Making sure my family and I had food, she checked on me while I was in the hospital, and prayed for me. She is truly a blessing from God. I pray for her and strive to be the friend to her that she is to me.

Sounds like a wonderful friend! There for both emotional and physical support, the tangible and the intangible, the hands and feet of Jesus in the darkest moments of your life.

Elizabeth,

Thank you for your kind comment.

Yes, you're right. Sometimes in the darkest moments we need "Jesus with skin on" in the form of a friend. I heard someone at a conference say, "Sometimes we need Jesus with skin on." I've not forgotten that statement. In my opinion that's what a true friend is.
